A marketing consultant for small businesses that already spend on marketing

You have a website, maybe an agency, a freelancer or two, and some ad spend. What you don't have is one plan that ties it together and tells everyone what to do next. I write that plan in month one. After that, I help carry it out with briefs, email sequences, landing-page drafts and CRM changes, and I report on it every month.

What changes, and when

Marketing rarely moves in a month. Anyone who says it will is selling something. This is the honest order of events.

Month 1

Diagnose. Change nothing yet.

I read the accounts, the spending, the website and the last year of results. At the end of the month you get a written diagnostic and a 90-day plan: what to do, in what order, who owns it and what it should cost.

Months 2–3

The first changes go live.

The top items on the plan get done. Some of that is me (briefs, email sequences, landing-page drafts, scripts) and some is your team or agency working from my briefs. A monthly KPI sheet starts building a trend line.

Quarter 2 onward

Keep what works. Cut the rest.

Anything that shows results gets more of the budget, and anything that doesn't gets dropped with a reason written down. The 90-day plan is updated every month, so it never goes stale.

Some changes, like a fixed contact form or a follow-up email, can show up quickly. Others, like search rankings and brand, take longer. The plan says which is which.

Questions about marketing strategy

Do you run the ads and social media, or only plan them?

I plan them, brief them and write a lot of the material: campaign briefs, email sequences and landing-page drafts. Running ad accounts day to day and posting on social stay with your team, your freelancer or your agency. If you want me managing those people, that's the Fractional CMO tier.

How is this different from an agency retainer?

An agency sells execution on its channels. This retainer is up to 18 logged hours of planning and hands-on work, with no channel of its own to sell. My fee stays the same whether you spend more on ads or less.

We have a marketing plan. It just isn't working. Do we start over?

Not by default. Month one diagnoses the plan you have: what's been done, what's been measured and where it went off track. We keep what holds up, and the 90-day plan builds on it.

Can we use a plan we already paid someone else for?

Yes, if it's yours to share. Send it before month one and I'll treat it as the starting draft. You shouldn't pay twice for the same thinking.

Is it a 12-month contract?

No. The initial term is 3 months, then it's month to month and ends with 30 days' written notice by email. Three months is the minimum because the first one is diagnosis, and a 90-day plan needs its 90 days.
